Jim Cartwright’s intriguingly-titled work is given its world premiere at the Octagon and will no doubt bring in big audiences.
Husband-and-wife Doug and Penny are struggling to grow old gracefully so when friend Henry introduces them to a book of instructions that promises to roll back the years for them, their interest is aroused.
But what starts off as frivolous fantasy gradually develops into something more sinister as the adage of “be careful what you wish for” is enacted with frightful consequences.
It’s a script that calls for expert handling to bring out its true dynamic and Tom Mannion (Doug), Denise Welch (Penny) and Eric Potts (Henry) act their socks off to make it work supremely well.
I can’t say much more without giving the story away but suffice to say that the Octagon is signing off its season in style. Roll on the next season!
The play runs until May 23rd with tickets available on 01204-520661.
