Colne big clean ahead of green light for reopening

As the end of lockdown looms, business owners in Colne are preparing to don their aprons and marigolds and clean up outside their shops ahead of welcoming back customers.

The Big Colne Clean-Up, organised by the Colne BID team, will see business litter picking and cleaning up during the day on April 10th before the big reopning on April 12th.

Chairman, Stuart Wilson said: “Colne BID is delighted to be able to assist in providing a spring clean for our town centre before the big re-opening on the 12th, we are encouraging as many businesses as possible to join us to give the town a bit more sparkle to welcome back customers and visitors alike”

Colne BID have been working towards meeting their ‘Pride’ Objective as detailed in the BID business plan to enhance the overall appearance of the town.

They employed the services of Unique Clean, a Colne based business, to begin a programme of street cleaning on Skipton Road and Hartley Square to both remove chewing gum and brighten up the pavements.

The “Fresh Lick of Paint” scheme has also got off to a flying start. Up to £10,000 (helping up to 10 businesses) has been made available each year until 2023 to redecorate the exteriors of up to businesses within the BID area.

The BID is offering 50% of the funding (with a maximum cap of £500) towards the external redecoration to help refresh paint, signage, and canopy fronts.
